Asif Ahmed Asif Ahmed

Asif Ahmed is a native New Yorker. Born to conservative (and soon-disappointed) Indian parents, and raised as a bridge and tunnel brat, he was exposed to the likes of Siouxsie, the Cure, the Clash, and the B-52's by his older brother and grade school teachers. From a young age he always wanted to be involved in music, but was too shy and reserved as a child to consider being a performer. Oh, how the shy and reserved thing has changed...

Anyway, the opportunity to come out of his shell arrived in high school when he began to play hooky on a regular basis, preferring the company of East Village freaks and punks to the local Staten Island variety. After prolonged observance of the NYC scene, Asif tired of curbside loitering and started working at local punk rock shops. He found additional gainful employment at any and all clubs that would allow him into weekend all-age matinee shows.

After several half-assed stints at various now-defunct labels, and many more laughable attempts to get along with his elders and betters, it was generally agreed that Asif "...had his own way of doing things..." albeit often by accident. In keeping with the whole indie-schmindie DIY ethos, Asif started his own management company, a decision having nothing to do whatsoever with the fact that he was virtually unemployable. Miraculously enough, this decision seems to have worked out for him. Go figure.

Bands have come, bands have gone, bands have stayed, and more bands are going to arrive. Asif's past and present talent roster spans the globe (ok, part of the globe, but who can keep track?), from his NYC backyard to the UK to Los Angeles to Scandinavia and beyond, wherever he ends up, two things are always going to happen:

A) Asif is nearly always found searching for unique and surprising talent. Wherever you are, if you see him out and about, you can be sure he's looking for new music. Great new music and free drinks, so watch your bar tab.

B) Asif will work harder than a tranny hooker during the GOP convention to make sure his artists are nurtured, respected, seen and heard. Also paid. Can't forget that part.
