Andy GershonNew York, NY - Music executive Andy Gershon has joined Epic Records as the label's Executive Vice President, it was announced today by Epic President Charlie Walk. Mr. Gershon is based in New York.
In his new role, Andy will play an essential role in expanding and diversifying Epic's roster, covering all genres of music. And as Epic continues to evolve from a traditional record label into a brand-building music company, Mr. Gershon will help lead in building a new, creative economic model for the music company.
"I trust Andy's instincts on where musical tastes are going," says Epic President Charlie Walk, "and he has always been one who doesn't conform to the constraints that are put on our business. Epic will greatly benefit from his creative edge and forward thinking ability to find new and interesting platforms to develop artists."

Andy Gershon's love of music showed at an early age, starting with selling records in Kansas City and then promoting concerts while studying at American University in Washington, DC. His professional career began in management working with bands like Love and Rockets, the Cocteau Twins and the Sundays. Things took a fast turn when Andy discovered the Smashing Pumpkins during a defining moment in music when alternative music was becoming mainstream. In 1996, Gershon formed Outpost Recordings (a joint venture with Geffen) with Mark Williams and Scott Litt. With artists like Days of the New, The Crystal Method and Veruca Salt, Outpost's first four albums were either Gold or Platinum. Most recently, Gershon was the President of V2 Records, the home of massively acclaimed artists The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Josh Ritter and Moby.
